The August chair with armrests from the collection of Vincent Van Duysen for Serax are stripped down to the essence, but with contemporary proportions. The slightly wider seat and backrest ensure optimum comfort, which is enhanced by the armrests. The black powder-coated aluminium is weatherproof, allowing the chairs to be used both indoors and outdoors.

Vincent van duysen

Vincent Van Duysen was born in Lokeren, Belgium, in 1962. After earning a degree from the Sint-Lucas School of Architecture, Ghent, he worked with Aldo Cibic in Milan, followed by a collaboration with Jean De Meulder in Antwerp, Belgium. In 1989, Vincent Van Duysen Architects was established. Today, the firm has grown into a team of more than twenty collaborators with work ranging from product design for numerous international brands, to commercial and large-scale architectural projects, with a focus on high-end residences both in Belgium or spread across Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the USA. 

From the onset, a definite relationship between architecture, interior and product design has been the driving force behind the conception of projects inspired by subtle transitions between these disciplines and combined with a spatial design attitude, constantly striving for the essence.

The use of pure and tactile materials translates into clean, timeless design. With respect to context and tradition, it’s an approach within which the senses, and the physical experience of space, textures and light place the integrity of the user at its core. Functionality, durability and comfort are the prime components of the work, an architectural language not shy to convey aesthetics, but prone to eschew fashion and trends.

During his career, Van Duysen has received multiple awards among which the recent Flemish Culture Prize for Design, Belgian Designer of the Year and the Henry van de Velde Lifetime Achievement Award. His name has also been included in the AD100 survey by the Architectural Digest network multiple times.

Furniture Order Process

Furniture and Lighting items are available to purchase online or with our dedicated consultants at our Auckland showroom.

Our range consists of:


Stocked Items


We hold a range of items in stock from all the brands we work with, these focus on products such as dining chairs, coffee tables, side tables, dining tables, lighting, outdoor furniture, beds, barstools and a small amount of upholstered items. These can normally be ready for dispatch within 3 - 4 days of receiving an order.


Made to Order Locally


Many of our products and particularly upholstered items are made to order, this way we can produce a product that is unique to your requirements. In terms of fabrics there are many possibilities outside of what you see on this site and we are happy to discuss what will work best for you and your environment. Lead times noted online are an estimation and can vary depending on the time of the year, fabric and material availability or manufacturing workloads. For example a chosen fabric may be out of stock, or our manufacturers have pre-christmas cutoffs from late September.


Imported Product


We strive to keep a selection of our best sellers from the import brands we work with in stock, but to keep this range diverse we aren’t able to hold all items in stock, so a number of our imported items will have lead times from worldwide locations. Lead times noted online are an estimation and can vary depending on the time of the year or with freight disruptions. 


Ordering products with lead times:


When an order is placed for a product with a lead time, please make sure all details are correct as made to order or imported items are unable to be returned.If you need to make a change to your order, please contact us within one business day, as we may not be able to accommodate changes after this time or a fee may be incurred.


When your order is placed, we will review and be in touch if there are any changes to the noted lead time, such as fabric availability or orders placed after Christmas manufacturing deadlines. Otherwise you will receive a confirmation of your order and we will touch base closer to completion to arrange collection or delivery.

Sale:

All sales purchases are final and not eligible for return or exchange. All sale goods are sold in as-new condition, however please note packaging may show signs of light wear.

Sale purchases are online only, stock will not be available at our retail locations.

Sale purchases will be dispatched in chronological order. Please allow 3-5 days for dispatch at this busy time, and then standard shipping timeframes will apply. Same day shipping is not available for sale items. Freight for oversized or large items, domestic or international, may incur additional charges. This will be invoiced to you and must be paid before the goods are dispatched.

We ship furniture and lighting orders nationwide within New Zealand. These are either shipped with a selected courier or fragile freight carrier, with the pricing dependent on the location, size and weight of the item/s. The total freight will be calculated at checkout for your order. We reserve the right to apply additional charges for rural, low service or difficult access.

We offer free collection from our Auckland Warehouse in Eden Terrace on Monday-Friday. Saturday collection of smaller items can be pre-arranged before end of day Thursday via our Furniture & Lighting Showroom.

Returns
Made to order or imported products are made to your unique requirements and cannot be cancelled after one business day from placing the order.

In stock product can be returned within 14 days, for a credit or exchange. Please choose carefully as we do not refund for change of mind. Products must be returned unused, with all original packaging and we
reserve the right to refuse a return if the product does not meet our requirements. Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the purchaser, unless the products received were damaged/faulty.
