Russell Kennedy Workspace

At client level, the reception and hospitality spaces of the new Russell Kennedy workplace at 500 Bourke Street, Melbourne, are positioned to maximise light and views, establishing a calm and welcoming arrival. A café, library and seminar rooms support connection between clients and staff, extending the workplace beyond the traditional meeting room.

Across four levels, an interconnecting stair links breakout spaces and encourages movement throughout the floorplate. Planting cascades through the void, softening the architecture and bringing a sense of ease to the vertical circulation.

The interior language responds directly to the strong column grid of 500 Bourke Street. Designed by Carr, a secondary timber grid wraps façade columns and introduces expressed internal beams, providing structure and rhythm to the planning.

Oak joinery, wood wool ceilings and layered textiles warm the palette against poured concrete flooring - a balance of tactility and durability suited to a contemporary legal workplace.
