In Brief with Sarah Hopkinson

Sarah Hopkinson is a gallerist and writer based in Tāmaki Makaurau. Her gallery Coastal Signs is exhibiting at the Aotearoa Art Fair, on from Thursday 18th April at the Viaduct Event Centre.

Sarah is also one half of Salome, a new boutique art advisory, a trustee of the Auckland Art Gallery Foundation and the Jan Warburton Charitable Trust, but mostly she works with artists to deliver exhibitions.

We've known Sarah for many years and enjoy her eye for detail and aesthetic sensibility. We are thrilled to have Sarah share her five favourite things for our new 'In Brief' series.

Grcic is such a dexterous designer and there is always something a little weird about his objects, which I find very appealing. We have one of these chairs in the Coastal Signs office, and it gets many comments. 10/10. 

Georgia Currie is a fashion wizard, and I can’t wait for her new label to launch its first capsule. (Cardigans available now, first capsule collection delivering mid-May.)

I love this sofa - it’s so plush and voluminous! Space-age, biomorphic, yet chic.

As a rule I try to avoid talking about skincare, however I’m a convert to Emma Lewisham… this product in particular.

I find this chair so charming: beautiful turned timber frame, powder puff seat… sustainable materials! I was not surprised this was designed by a woman.
